Monday, March 4th 1-3:30 pm, Heritage Area Agency on Aging: Join us for a special

event featuring Harrison March from Heritage Area Agency on Aging as our guest speaker.

Harrison will shed light on why Heritage should be your first call for accessing community

resources that assist in maintaining quality of life, especially when life events present new

challenges for older adults.


Heritage’s knowledgeable and experienced team is dedicated to helping you navigate these

challenges by providing a range of tailored services and/or referring you to other community

resources to meet your individual needs. They work closely with you to develop personalized

action plans aimed at achieving your goals.

Thursday, March 7th 1-3:30 pm, Bingo: A social game of chance, bingo, is growing in

popularity and is enjoyed by people of all ages. Besides being great recreation, playing bingo

can help older adults maintain hand-eye coordination, concentration, and short-term memory

skills.


Saturday March 9th 2-4pm: Nature Outing to Wickiup Hill Nature Center, 10260

Morris Hills Rd, Toddville. We will enjoy the interesting and informative exhibits of Native

American life, Life along the River, and the Hallway of Habitats in addition to watching for birds

and wildlife from the viewing area. Directions: Wickiup Hill is just NW of the Cedar Rapids

metropolitan area near Toddville. Head west on Blairs Ferry to Feather Ridge Road; right (north)

on Feather Ridge to Morris Hills Road; left (west) on Morris Hills Road - follow to the end of the

road, the Center will be on your right (north).


Monday, March 11th 1-3:30 pm, Musician Steve Anderson: Join us for an

unforgettable afternoon of timeless music with musician Steve Anderson! His masterful guitar

skills and soulful vocals will take us on a nostalgic journey through the golden eras of the 50s,

60s, and 70s, as well as beloved country Classics.


Prepare to tap your feet, sing along to familiar tunes, and bask in the warm nostalgia that only

great music can evoke. Hopefully, you can join us for an afternoon of pure musical delight with

Steve Anderson, where every chord strikes a chord in your heart.


Thursday, March 14th 1-3:30 pm, Platonic Speed Friending: Bridge to Opportunities

members always warmly welcome first-timers, involving them in group discussion. Join us for

an exciting afternoon of one-to-one Platonic Speed Friending to take our social networking a

step further.


Whether you're new to the area, recently retired, or simply seeking new friendships, this event

offers an opportunity to get to know one another one on one. Like speed dating, Platonic Speed Friending allows you to engage in brief, one-on-one conversations with fellow participants, providing an opportunity to discover common interests, shared experiences, and potential new friendships.


Monday, March 18th 1-3:30 pm, Line Dancing with Kathie Mosley:

Line dancing is a great way for older adults to engage in healthy physical activity. It is a perfect

exercise for improving coordination and balance, increasing cardiovascular health and brain

memory. This dance fitness experience can be enjoyed by people of all movement abilities;

newcomers welcomed anytime. Kathie Mosley will be leading us in this quirky and fun activity.


Thursday, March 21th 1-3:30 pm, Personal Safety: Be Prepared: This is s an

informative and practical program designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and tools

necessary to reduce the risk of becoming victims of crime. Led by Sergeant Jennifer Roberts, a

seasoned law enforcement professional from the Cedar Rapids Police Department, this

program offers invaluable insights and actionable tips to enhance personal safety.


Monday, March 25 th 1-3:30 pm, Game Day. Join us to play Phase 10, a rummy-like card

game, Mexican Trains, a modern version of Dominos, or Scrabble. These games can be played

by anyone. Or bring a favorite game. There is enough room and tables to play 3-5 games.


Thursday, March 28th 1-3:30 pm, Movie Day at Horizons 819 5 th St SE: Come and

enjoy a movie while munching on gourmet popcorn for your cinematic pleasure. The name of

the selected movie will be posted on the Facebook Group “Cedar Rapids 55 Plus” and

announced about a week prior to “Movie Day.” This offsite event will be held at Horizons, 819

5 th St SE, ½ block off 8 th Ave, not far from Mercy Hospital
