Events/Outings

Registration for these outings/events is requested to confirm your planned attendance. Most events will occur if there is a minimum of one registrant. For some events, there will be a maximum number of participants. When an admission fee is charged by an event vendor, each person will be responsible for their own admission fee.

Nature Walks:

Sunday August 6th at 2pm, Nature Walk at Noelridge Park: Meet at the Noelridge

flower beds (just off 4900 Council St and intersection with Collins Road) to enjoy the blooms

before taking the walking tail past the native prairie, pond, and orchard. The path is flat. This is

an enjoyable way to get in “our steps.”

Hometown Tourist:

Sunday August 20th at 1pm: Hometown Tourist outing to Cedar Rapids Museum

of Art (FREE summer admission). Overalls: Grant Wood’s Depiction of Denim is the

current temporary exhibit until August 27th . Jeans are the ubiquitous American garment.  Its

American culture.  Grant Wood is well-known for appearing in his working uniform, overalls.

They were not only a great working outfit but also referenced his youth on a farm.
