Thursday, November 2nd, 1-3:30 pm, Bingo. A social game of chance, bingo, is growing
in popularity and is enjoyed by people of all ages. Besides being great recreation, playing bingo
can help older adults maintain hand-eye coordination, concentration, and short-term memory
skills.
Monday, November 6th, 1-3:30 pm, “Don’t Leave Your Family at Risk” by Scott
Shoemaker, an experienced estate planning attorney. He will address why you need an estate
plan (a will, trust, or other documents), even if you are not rich, and how it may be even more
important for families of modest means. He will also inform you about POLST medical orders
that can give individuals more control over their own care during a serious illness.
Thursday, November 9th, 1-3:30 pm, Reminiscence. Reminiscence is a natural process
that can help us find meaning in memories. Telling or writing life legacy histories allows us to
look at factors affecting development which influence who we are. Guidelines for reflecting,
sharing, and writing will be presented.
Monday, November 13th, 1-3:30 pm, “Searching for Buxton” Discussion led by Tom
Moore. We will watch the PBS documentary “Searching for Buxton” together. “Utopia” is how
a majority of early 1900s Buxton residents referred to their Iowa community. Buxton was an
oasis for racial harmony in an era where segregation was common practice. A discussion led by
Tom Moore, a founder of the African American Museum, will follow.
Thursday, November 16th, 1-3:30 pm, Handling the Holidays. For those who have
experienced the loss of a loved one, the holiday season can be an especially difficult time. Amy
Hart, Licensed Funeral Director and Certified Celebrant with Murdoch Funeral Homes and
Cremation Service, will lead a presentation about honoring losses and expressing grief. Learn
about meaningful ways to incorporate your loved one into holiday traditions, helpful tips on
caring for yourself or a grieving friend, and information about continuing grief care resources in
our community.
Monday, November 20th, 1-3:30 pm, What'cha Reading? Come share what you have
read recently. It doesn't matter what you like to read or how much you read, just that you read
and like talking with others about books. Share a favorite book and get tips for a great next
read.

Thursday, November 30th, 1-3:30 pm - Movie Day: North by Northwest. Come and
enjoy an Alfred Hitchcock classic: North by Northwest. Gripping, suspenseful, and visually
iconic, this 1959 Hitchcock film laid the groundwork for countless action thrillers to follow. The
film stars Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint and James Mason. We’ll also provide gourmet popcorn to
munch on for your cinematic pleasure.
